GRAYVILLE — Authorities are conducting an ongoing death investigation following the discovery of a deceased individual inside a vehicle at the Road Ranger Truck Stop in Grayville.
Officials confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Mark Willoughby of Evansville, Indiana. At this stage, investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death, and the case remains under active review pending final findings from the coroner’s office.
According to law enforcement, the vehicle was discovered parked at the location for an extended period of time before concern was raised by individuals at the truck stop. Staff members subsequently notified authorities, prompting a response from the Grayville City Police Department and the White County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon arrival, officers secured the area and established a perimeter while investigators began their initial examination of the scene. The parking area was temporarily restricted to allow for evidence collection and documentation.
The White County Coroner’s Office has taken custody of the case and is working in coordination with local law enforcement. Additional assistance has also been requested from the Illinois State Police crime scene unit to support the ongoing investigation.
At this time, officials emphasize that the investigation is active and ongoing, and no final determination regarding the cause or manner of death has been released. Further examination and testing will be conducted as part of standard investigative procedures.
Authorities are reviewing the timeline leading up to the discovery and are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the truck stop over recent days and noticed anything unusual to contact law enforcement.
Additional updates will be released by officials once verified information becomes available.
