VICTORIA — Emergency services responded to a serious road accident on Geelong Road today, resulting in significant traffic disruption along one of the region’s major transport corridors.
The crash occurred during a busy travel period and involved at least two vehicles, according to early reports. Witnesses described a sudden impact followed by immediate congestion in both directions as traffic quickly backed up.
Victoria Police, paramedics, and fire crews attended the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Emergency personnel assessed and treated at least one person at the scene before transporting them to hospital for further care. The extent of injuries has not yet been released.
Firefighters assisted in securing the area, managing potential hazards, and clearing debris from the roadway to allow for safe traffic movement. Sections of Geelong Road were temporarily closed or restricted while emergency operations were carried out, leading to extended delays and congestion across surrounding routes.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. Investigators are reviewing available footage, witness accounts, and other evidence to determine what led to the crash. At this stage, no official cause has been confirmed.
Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume once the scene is fully cleared and investigations progress.
