Family, friends, and members of the Spokane Valley community are mourning the loss of Jessica Guilford, 35, who died following a head-on crash on State Route 290 (East Trent Avenue) on the evening of June 6, 2026.
Crash Details
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 5:08 p.m. near North Coleman Road in Spokane Valley. Investigators say an 18-year-old driver was traveling eastbound when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck Jessica’s vehicle head-on.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided aid at the scene. Jessica was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center with critical injuries but later died from those injuries.
The 18-year-old driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities initially described the incident as a hit-and-run, but later clarified that the driver remained at the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Road Closure and Investigation
The crash forced the closure of SR 290 between Lilly Road and Dora Road for several hours while investigators documented the scene and cleared debris. Washington State Patrol continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
